On the measurement of wave propagation in systems by means of spherical microphone array: a case study

چکیده
The measurements of wave propagation in linear and non-systems represent an important research topic. The study of wave propagation becomes very important especially when related with sound propagation in enclosures, as pipes, theatres, and other electro-acoustic systems, that are normally considered non linear. In this article, a new method for recording the spatial properties of the wave propagation is described. The spatial distribution of air-pressure waves passing at a point in space is sampled by means of a number of virtual directive microphones, covering the surface of a sphere. This represents a discretization of the spatial information, which corresponds to the spatial equivalent of the PCM sampling of a waveform. In this article the measurements of air-pressure wave propagation in enclosures is analysed starting from a traditional b-format microphone , and compared with a 32-channels probe. The method is applied to a historical Italian theatre, located in Bologna, i.e. the 1763 theatre in Villa Mazzacorati. In order to properly evaluate the early components of the multichannel Impulse Response, a panoramic picture of the theatre was considered. On this picture, the early reflections were plotted into different circles on the figure, where the dimension and the intensity are related with the characteristics of the early components. Furthermore, also the influence of the height of the microphone in the calculation of the physical parameters was analysed. The measurements were repeated at different height and different position on a transversal line in the theatre, and statistically analysed. Dynamic Coupled Thermo-Viscoelasticity of a Spherical Hollow Domain
The generalized coupled thermo-viscoelasticity of hollow sphere subjected to thermal symmetric shock load is presented in this paper. To overcome the infinite speed of thermal wave propagation, the Lord-Shulman theory is considered. Two coupled equations, namely, the radial equation of motion and the energy equation of a hollow sphere are obtained in dimensionless form. Resulting equations are ...
متن کاملA New Theorem Concerning Scattering of Electromagnetic Waves in Multilayered Metamaterial Spherical Structures
The proposed theorem in this paper is indicative of a kind of duality in the propagation of waves in the dual media of and in the spherical structures. Independent of wave frequency, the number of layers, their thickness, and the type of polarization, this theorem holds true in case of any change in any of these conditions. Theorem: Consider a plane wave incident on a multilayered spheric...
متن کاملFree-field Calibration of Mems Microphone Array Used for Acoustic Holography
The paper deals with method and methodology for calibration of the whole microphone array without the need of dismounting of each microphone and calibrating separately. This situation is usual with MEMS transducers which cannon be dismantled from the frame. The method is based on generation of spherical acoustic wave propagating in free-field and synchronously received by all microphones in the...
متن کاملA Study of Electromagnetic Radiation from Monopole Antennas on Spherical-Lossy Earth Using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method
Radiation from monopole antennas on spherical-lossy earth is analyzed by the finitedifference time-domain (FDTD) method in spherical coordinates. A novel generalized perfectly matched layer (PML) has been developed for the truncation of the lossy soil. For having an accurate modeling with less memory requirements, an efficient "non-uniform" mesh generation scheme is used. Also in each time step...
